Heckington Wilberforce Presentation - 14/07/2007
Mr Chris Richards, of the Protestant Alliance, (see photo) gave a very thorough and challenging presentation on the life of William Wilberforce (slave trade abolitionist) to a good number of people at Heckington Village Hall. It was a delight to see people from the village join with us on this occasion.
Though Wilberforce is seen today as something of a hero, it was clearly demonstrated that Wilberforce's perseverance and fruitfulness was an outworking of the grace of God in his life. The Gospel was evident throughout, and surely the saints were edified. May it also be that sinners will be called by His grace. That is our prayer.

Lord willing, this will be just the first such Scripture placement in a county newspaper. More are planned with different verses in the coming months.

Recognition of a Pastor at ERBC - 14th April 2007
On April 14th in the Lincolnshire village of Heckington more than forty people gathered together with members and friends of Ebenezer Reformed Baptist Church to witness the recognition to the ministry of their first Pastor, Mr Peter Cotton.
The proceedings were led by elder Mr Malwyn Rowe, who gave explanation of the calling of a pastor, while Mr Peter Cotton testified to the Lord’s dealings in his own life and his subsequent call to the pastorate. Dr Stephen Scott-Pearson of the Protestant Alliance was responsible for the days ministry taking for his text Acts 20 and emphasizing that the ministry was not for the "cowardly" but for "champions and contenders", noting that the apostle Paul when warned of bonds and afflictions, could testify that "none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy" (20:24).
